**Overview**:
An interesting opportunity has arisen within the Registration Service for a Registration Technical Officer at our Aylesbury office.

Tasks include receptionist duties including greeting the public at our Registration Offices, providing advice and support to customers and colleagues regarding certificate production as well as booking appointments both over the telephone and in person. You will also be monitoring and managing life event records and ensuring accuracy whilst producing copy certificates. Other duties include filing and following processes and procedures required and completing statutory duties. You will need to work as part of a team providing administrative support to the Registration Office.

**About us**:
The Buckinghamshire Registration Service registers all life events that occur in Buckinghamshire including births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships. We have two main offices, one at the Council’s Walton Street Offices in Aylesbury and the other in Beaconsfield Old Town. We also have smaller outstations across the County.

**About the role**:

- This role is all about customer care and accuracy. It is so important as you will in many cases be the face of the Registration Service and the first interaction a customer may have with us. If you enjoy giving a first-class service to customers, this could be the role for you
- The role entails the production of copy certificates for customers who may have mislaid their previous copy, would like more copies or who are researching their family history. This could be a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate.
- You will also be required to answer the telephone to assist customers with their queries, providing advice, booking appointments on an electronic diary system and general office duties including filing and incoming and outgoing post.
- Full training will be given as well as ongoing support on the job. There is potential for progression through the service when opportunities arise.
- Some aspects of this role occasionally require an investigative mind to find the right birth, death, marriage or civil partnership entry for our customers. You may also get to look back in history as far as 1837 when records began
- You will also be required to attend ceremonies to assist in their delivery from time to time, for which you will be fully trained.

**Fixed**

As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

**About you**:
You will need to be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and be able to converse at ease with the public and give accurate information. You will have good communication skills and be able to empathise where required as well as being able to explain technical and legal issues in a straightforward manner.

The Registration Service has multiple areas where IT is used on a daily basis, so good IT skills are a must. Experience of using outlook, word and excel are desirable.

**Other information**:
This role will be based at the office in Aylesbury primarily however you may be required to travel across the County in certain circumstances.
