**Youth Projects Coordinator**

**Location**:Penrith, hybrid working

**Salary**:£24,000 - £32,000 (FTE)

**Hours**:22.5 - 30 hours a week, negotiable hours and days

**Job Type**:Fixed term from August 2023 - December 2025 (With potential for extension)

Cumbria Action for Sustainability is made up of more than 80 organisations from the public, private and third sectors, with the shared ambition of a net zero carbon Cumbria by 2037 for their emissions from energy, travel, land-use, food, and the other goods they buy, and waste.

**The Role**

This position offers flexibility to work between the office in Penrith, and from home, plus occasional meetings.

Through the wide range of activities that form the Cumbria Youth Climate Action Programme, you’ll be helping to expand their knowledge around carbon reduction, develop their communication skills, and empower them to engage with policy makers, politicians, business leaders and the media.

**Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience**
- At least three years’ experience of working with young people, schools and/or youth organisations.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with children, young people and their representative groups/organisations.
- Ability to develop effective working relations with schools, youth organisations and partners/contractors/stakeholders.
- Ability to manage a wide range of tasks and prioritise these effectively.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
- Good contract management skills.
- Good research skills and ability to interpret and communicate the findings.
- Experience of project management.
- Ability to use initiative and make effective decisions.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use a comprehensive range of software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Teams).
- Understanding of and commitment to the company’s aims, values and objectives.
- Driving licence and access to car, or other means to travel independently around the county.
