**Movements Controller**

**Salary**:£43,396 per annum

As part of the team at Heaton train care depot you will play a vital role in regulating the movements of rolling stock throughout a 24/7 period, operating the operational control panel in accordance with Rules and Regulations and ensuring the safety of staff working at the depot, to help us build a Railway the North can be proud of.

You will report to Team Leader Movements and communicate with the relevant people in other areas of the business, such as Tyneside IECC (Integrated Electronic Control Centre) and traincrew. You may also need to operate the yard power points in cases of failure/emergency, as well as shunting and route setting in the depot.

Daily; we expect you to authorise train movements, including arrivals and departures of mainline stock in a safe, timely and effective manner, arrange and control protection of local work areas to ensure safety of colleagues and facilities, communicate with varying levels of colleagues and customers.

You will be expected to report faults, receive and record messages and communicate any faults and contingencies to all required, including the leadership team at Heaton.

Record numbers/sets/times of arriving and departing stock whilst communicating any delays and impact to the leadership team and wider business. Liaise with train crews, to direct them to their departing trains and interact with Train Crew Resource Centres if Crews do not arrive.

Additionally, you will relay orders and messages to shunting staff and Depot Drivers and remotely operate the carriage washing plant, as well as having the competence required to perform shunting tasks and the operation of manual and automatic points, as well as ensuring the environment remains clean and tidy at all times.

You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

- Awareness of COSHH and basic Health & Safety is desirable, although training will be provided in the necessary safety procedures.
- Good team working skills
- Good organisation and adapt to daily changes
- Compliant with rules and regulations
- Intimate knowledge of all operating procedures, passed and certified in Rules and Regulations or willing to be trained.
- Ability to operate and understand TOPS (Total Operations Processing System) or willing to learn.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
