Contract services include providing the maintenance, equipment, and labour to complete the job.

Harsco Rail offers contract services for Rail Grinding and has been grinding rail for over 50 years, covering more than 300,000 km (192,000 miles) in the last 7 years.

**Job Description**:
**JOB PURPOSE**

To be responsible for the coordination, planning and delivery of parts and the collection of waste from sites across the UK. To ensure correct waste storage and segregation prior to collection by licenced waste contractors.

Qualifications & Managerial Experience
- Prior experience working within the Railway industry (Desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equiverlant)
- A very good understanding of the Environmental Protection Act, The Waste (England & Wales) Regulations and other associated UK waste regulations.
- Understanding of logistics (transportation, receive & dispatch) regulations.
- PTS Trained (Desirable)

**RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES**
- To support the EHS Manager in the correct completion and retention of waste transfer / waste consignment notes, both internal and external.
- Ensure the correct storage and segregation of hazardous waste to regulatory requirements
- Ensure safe driving regulations/standards are adhered to.
- Liaison with authorised & licenced waste contractors in the collection and transfer of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- The production and implementation of emergency response plans for waste storage and the testing of such plans.
- Development and execution of efficient plans in the transportation of parts and collection of waste from UK sites.
- To organise and manage a team of logistic operatives (drivers) to ensure timely delivery of parts and the collection of waste.
- Responsible for achieving & maintaining the operation to a 5S regime
- To undertake driving duties when required
- To ensure appropriate record keeping to monitor compliance and meet regulatory requirements
- Liaise with Environmental Agency and other key stakeholders on the storage and transfer of waste when required.
- To work with the EHS Manager EMEA and undertake job safety analysis to identify risks in the workplace and propose/deliver initiatives to eliminate or control these risks
- Conduct and record safety tours within their area or responsibility
- Ensure all safety matters raised are addressed promptly and that investigations are completed
- To comply with all Health, Safety quality and Environmental policies and procedures
- To undergo any training as required by company requirements
- To undertake other duties or travel as discussed with the Supply Chain Manager

- To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions at work.
