We are seeking a Senior Flood Risk Officer who is proactive, enjoys working with communities and other flood risk management authorities and can negotiate to ensure the delivery of flood risk improvements across the county.

What will you be doing?
This role will give you a wealth of opportunities to get involved in a broad range of flood risk initiatives and develop and utilise your skills in the following key areas:

- maintaining and enhancing the connections between the Council and community flood groups
- organising flood resilience events at a range of locations across the County to raise awareness and increase the resilience of communities to flooding
- investigation of flood incidents and making recommendations to reduce risks,
- watercourse enforcement activities ranging from supporting property owners through to negotiation to legal proceedings

The role requires travel to locations across Cambridgeshire so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means. The Council offers a pool car service with cars based at the main offices throughout Cambridgeshire. This means that cars can be booked and used for site visits and meetings.

About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:

- Has experience of working in flood risk management
- Is able to provide drainage and flood risk management advice from a regulatory perspective
- Is able to make informed and independent decisions with mínimal supervision
- Is a proactive and independent thinker who can work well as part of a dynamic and busy team.
- Is a confident communicator and negotiator, capable of explaining technical information clearly and sensitively to a range of audiences
- Is computer literate with experience of using spreadsheets and databases is also important.

You will be based in the Flood Risk team that acts as Lead Local Flood Authority for Cambridgeshire. The role is hybrid, balancing working from home and working from our main office at New Shire Hall at Alconbury Weald.
