**Job Title**:Site Supervisor

**Reporting to**:Visitor Services Manager

**Line Management**: Cleaner and Gardener including Gardening Volunteers

**Salary**:Up to £28,000 per annum

**Hours of Work**:Full time (40 hrs per week) on a rota system by mutual agreement which will include weekends and bank holidays.

The National Horseracing Museum is looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to oversee the security, safety, and maintenance of this 5-acre site.

The Museum consists of three areas: a series of interactive exhibitions portraying the history of horseracing, an impressive collection of sporting art in Palace House and a working yard dedicated to the retraining of ex-racehorses.

Open to the public six days a week, the postholder would be responsible for the smooth operation of the site ensuring that it is always presented to a high standard.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Responsible for the overall security of the site, including alarms, emergency call outs, CCTV and opening and closing of building.

2. Implementing and overseeing all Health and Safety protocols to ensure the safe and compliant operation of the site. Including carrying out weekly fire alarm testing and other regular maintenance checks, ensuring all associated paperwork is efficiently recorded and filed.

3. Overseeing of the Museum’s maintenance contracts, ensuring they are annually renewed and organising and supervising all contractors’ site visits.

4. Carrying out regular visual checks across the site and undertaking routine and preventative maintenance, reporting any significant problems arising at the earliest opportunity.

5. Keeping all areas of the site clean, tidy and well-maintained including cleaning of floor surfaces prior to opening hours, management of the grounds and responsibility for refuse bins and recycling.

6. Assisting with the movement and display of exhibits including hanging pictures, building display stands and making good walls and re-painting.

7. Preparation and dismantling of conference rooms and areas for a variety of functions including lifting and moving of furniture and setting-up of presentation equipment.

8. Responsible for monitoring cleaning supplies and maintaining equipment across all areas of the site and duly advising the Visitor Services Manager when new purchases are required.

9. To manage, motivate, appraise, and support the assigned staff.

10. Any other duties of a reasonable nature as directed by the Visitor Services Manager.

**Skills and Knowledge**:
Experience of caretaking duties or similar role holding responsibility for security of a building.

An understanding of health and safety procedures and good practice.

Ability to interpret and act on written instructions including maintaining filing systems both paper and digital.

Capable of undertaking basic maintenance and repairs.

Experience of working on own initiative and prioritising workload.

Fully flexible, with pleasant manner and willingness to interact and assist visitors to the museum.

High levels of cleanliness and appearance towards facilities, equipment and property.

Previous experience in working at a heritage and/or public site a distinct advantage.
Previous line management experience advantageous but not essential.

**Salary**: Up to £28,000.00 per year
