Adecco are currently recruiting for a **Communication Officer**to join a prestigious university based in Holborn.

**Roles and responsibilities**

**Web and Communications**:
Working to develop, manage and maintain the Departmental website as a cutting-edge resource providing access to research, teaching and learning, collaboration and debate. Sourcing, developing, writing and entering enriched, user-focused website content promotingthe centre's research, teaching and other activities, including communications copy, research briefings, case studies, testimonials, images and multi-media content, to support the delivery of the Department's objectives.

**This will include**:

- Taking responsibility for the Department's webpages and virtual server(s).
- Liaising with Programme Directors to ensure teaching programme pages contain information that is current and relevant to end users.
- Developing open communications and positive relationships with academic staff, ensuring they are aware of and are encouraged to promote their activities via Departmental communication channels. Commissioning news items or contributions from students, alumni,staff or external parties as appropriate for the Web pages.
- Making day-to-day decisions on whether submitted articles are of sufficient quality to be posted and when items need to be referred upwards for adjudication.
- Ensuring all content published on the Departmental website is edited in line with the university style guide and the writing is consistently of a high quality.
- Communicating sensitively with contributors about any improvements or concerns with their submitted content, liaising with the Department Manager or relevant academic in the most difficult or sensitive cases.

**Events**:

- To coordinate the planning, promotion and successful hosting of all department promotional events, including receptions and/or dinners where required. The post will also involve:

- Ensuring events and communications materials adhere to University, Faculty and Departmental branding and maintaining standardised PowerPoint slides and other communications assets for use by staff and students across the department.
- Maintaining and co-ordinate the calendar of events for the department, identifying key dates to ensure all events are able to be supported to a high standard.
- Providing administrative support and co-ordination for departmental events such as research seminars, public lectures, book launches, student recruitment events, student induction and graduation.
- Assisting with the production and dissemination of publicity, publications, brochures, reports and other digital
- and paper-based promotional materials relating to the department.

**Flexibility**
- To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility may be required in the duties performed in order to meet the demands of service. Job roles may also naturally develop over time and ongoing substantial changes to a role will be discussed betweenline managers and their staff, with job descriptions updated as and when appropriate.
