At Kensington and Chelsea Council, the role of the Leader’s Office is critical in addressing the key strategic priorities of the Council, as well as ensuring delivery on wider constitutional duties and service to the diverse communities of our borough. Working at the heart of the organisation, we provide critical advice and insights to the Leadership Team and ensure good governance. It’s high-profile work that has a major impact on decisions made by the Council. You’ll play a role in helping Kensington and Chelsea to emerge stronger and better from these uniquely challenging times.

**The Role**:
In the role of Senior Strategic Advisor, you will work directly with the Council’s Leadership Team to provide evidence-based advice and strategic support.

This is a highly responsible role that requires the management and coordination of a wide range of complex tasks, often working at pace. We’ll look to you to brief and prepare the Lead Members for top-level meetings and speaking engagements. You will also work on their behalf to foster collaboration by building and maintaining excellent working relationships with senior council officers, residents, community groups, businesses and other external stakeholders.
In this role you will provide strategic advice, direction and guidance to the Leadership Team, also driving the council’s public affairs work; thinking critically and objectively to find solutions. Advising on key risks through strategic horizon scanning on a local and pan-London level and ensuring that Lead Member’s decisions are based upon evidence-based advice.

**About You**:

Empathic, enthusiastic and flexible, you’ll be driven by a commitment to making a positive difference to residents’ lives. To succeed, you’ll need substantial experience of working in a complex political or advisory environment, coupled with the confidence and credibility to advise at senior levels. Able to communicate effectively and speak with brevity you will, of course, have exceptional influencing skills. You’ll be a strategic thinker, able to grasp the big picture while keeping track of critical legislative details.
