The Liaison and Diversion Service in Cambridgeshire are now offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner to work along side the youth and criminal justice systems to support adults, children and young people with a range of vulnerabilities.

Liaison and Diversion provides high quality screening and assessment of individuals who have encounter the criminal justice system. Individuals may present in police custody, magistrates or crown courts in Cambridgeshire and will include offering voluntary attendees.

L&DS assessments look to identify a wide range of health and social care vulnerabilities including mental illness, physical health needs, trauma/ personality disorder, acquired brain injury, alcohol and/or substance use, homelessness, learning disabilities or low IQ, autism, speech and language and communication needs, ADHD, etc.

Women and veterans are offered assessments as a priority, as are service users who may have committed high shame crime such as taking and distributing indecent images of children and child sexual exploitation. The team also assess the needs of children and young people.
- The post holder will work alongside the youth and criminal justice systems to support adults, children, and young people with a range of potential and current vulnerabilities.
- The post holder will also be required to support adults with current vulnerabilities and have expertise in working with service users with mental health issues.
- The post holder will use a range of appropriate screening tools to identify potential and current vulnerabilities.
- Following an identified vulnerability, the post holder will complete a holistic screening and where necessary a specialist mental health tool and where appropriate will signpost /refer to relevant agencies and, key partners.
- The role will include appropriate information sharing with family, Carers, Youth Offending Service, Police, Courts, Probation, GP and other key stakeholders and partner agencies.
- The post holder will be required to provide information to the courts in relation to appropriate diversion or effective, safer and appropriate disposal within criminal justice systems
- Data collection is an essential part of the role in order to provide monitoring and evaluation of the service and demonstrates compliance with key performance indicators.
- Develop close links between Liaison and Diversion, key stakeholders and other services in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire including the third sector.
- To provide appropriate support and direction for tasks undertaken by support workers

- To provide formal and informal training to police, probation courts and key stake holders.
- To provide specialist screening and assessments primarily of adults, children and young people who present with a range of potential or current vulnerabilities in police custody, community youth justice and court settings.
- To provide specialist professional advice, information guidance and consultation to partner agencies and other key stake holders including police, probation and courts.
- To ensure appropriate records of the referrals, vulnerability screens, assessment and reports adhere to professional guidelines Trust policy and recognised systems within the Liaison and Diversion Service
- To work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory and primary care agencies as appropriate.
- To work within levels of professional competence
- The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner who will undertake liaison and diversion by undertaking the following duties:

- To offer specialist liaison and diversion work for vulnerable children, young people and adults as per the National Programme for Liaison and Diversion.
- To regularly monitor and review the service against key performance indicators and support improvements under the direction of the Team manager.
