Peterborough, United Kingdom Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This is a great opportunity for a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Personality Disorder Service.

This post is based in either Peterborough or Cambridge, but at times will involve also covering our bases in Huntingdon and Wisbech.

The service is a NICE compliant specialist outpatient service which operates across all four localities; Cambridge, Huntingdon, Fenland and Peterborough. The service has undergone an innovative redesign and is embarking on an exciting phase of delivering a high-quality service which strives for excellence for its service users.

It provides evidence-based treatment protocols for patients with moderate to severe personality disorder which cover three main areas of impairment that the illness can present; psychological, occupational and social, with a specific focus on managing high chronic risk. The treatment protocols are based on models of Mentalisation Based Therapy, Dialectical Based Therapy and the Model of Human Occupation.

The service also offers consultation and training for other teams and services as well as close partnership working with GPs and primary care, and is committed to staff training, service evaluation and research. The service consists of consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, enhanced nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, support workers/peer support workers, and assistant psychologists.

Successful applicants will be strong team workers with demonstrable commitment and enthusiasm for working with people with personality disorders and an understanding of the impact that personality disorder can have on quality of life.

Experience of facilitating group work in a mental health or social care setting would be an advantage, along with experience of working on a 1:1 basis with service users.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we are involved in an NHSE pilot project regarding treatment delivery, and we are continuing to develop our service and interventions. Please read job description for a full understanding on this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop experience within a specialist mental health service. This is a service with a focus on supervision and reflection and we operate with a full team approach with treatment.
