We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Practitioner to join our Neurodevelopmental Team. We are a multidisciplinary team who work with youngsters with a diagnosed moderate to severe Learning Disability and provide assessment and treatment for Autism and ADHD. The team provides mental health assessments for youngsters with a neurodevelopmental disorder and also psychological therapies for co-morbid mental health disorders.

- To provide an evidence-based therapy service to children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities in the Neurodevelopmental Service CAMHS which is part of the Children, Young People and Families Directorate in CPFT.
- Patients will be managed on a community basis, providing assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders and/or comorbid mental health disorder and evidence-based therapy.
- At the same time as offering advice and consultation on patient’s mental health care to colleagues and partner agencies and to other non-professional carers.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s and Trust’s policies and procedures.

1.) To work as an integral member of the CAMHS Neurodevelopment Community Team, providing comprehensive mental health and diagnostic assessments and specialist assessments (if applicable such as SALT, OT, Cognitive), demonstrating the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care., a range of direct work and evidence-based therapeutic intervention. To have the ability to utilise specialist knowledge to make decisions about a child or young person’s mental health needs.

2.) To participate in the prevention and early detection of emotional and mental health difficulties in children and adolescents referred to the service.

3.) To participate in the planning and delivery of evidence-based therapeutic programmes e.g. Positive Behaviour Support, CBT and Parenting programmes on both an individual and group basis to children and young people and their families.

4.) To develop formulations of presenting problems or situations that integrate information from assessments within a coherent framework that draws upon mental health theory and evidence which incorporates developmental, interpersonal, societal, cultural and biological factors.

5.) To evaluate and make treatment decisions in collaboration with the CAMHS Community Team, the Multidisciplinary Team and in consultation with an accredited CAMHS therapist or qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, carers or group.

6.) To educate and involve children and young people and family/carers, in their care/support plan and provide opportunities for service users to contribute to assessment and the development of service provision.

7.) To be responsible for managing and evaluating caseload and manage time accordingly.

8.) To act as care coordinator, ensuring the provision of a care package appropriate for the client’s needs, coordinating the work of others involved with care, tasking responsibility for arranging reviews as required and communicating effectively with the client, his/her family and all others involved in the network of care, and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary interventions
