**The Opportunity**:
As Lecturer in Decoloniality and Design, the successful post holder will be working within the School of Design and in the first instance, contributing to our suite of Design and Screen Culture courses.

Your teaching work will involve preparing, scheduling, and delivering UG and PGT courses as part of ECA School of Design’s D&SC course portfolio, including lectures, workshops, seminars, and tutorials. Teaching work will also entail managing courses, setting and assessing assignments, and providing feedback to students. You will also be expected to undertake doctoral supervision and contribute to the research profile and teaching excellence of the School of Design.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to leadership, management, and administrative duties across teaching and research activities commensurate with the role, including undertaking citizenship positions facilitating the development and maintenance of the School of Design) and wider ECA functions, processes and events. For example, you should be prepared to adopt the role of D&SC Coordinator for a fixed period of time at some point in the future, or be prepared to assume other future citizenship roles across ECA and the wider University of Edinburgh.

The School of Design places a strong focus on encouraging socially responsible design and screen practices that address equalities, inclusion, ability, and well-being. The post holder will demonstrate an understanding of this, including leading in decolonizing curriculum content, course delivery and teaching methods.

The post involves supporting the School of Design’s ongoing vision to embed sustainable and environmentally considerate design and screen practices and solutions at the core of teaching and ongoing curriculum development.

Building on a pre-existing track record of research of a high international standard, you will be expected to produce high quality research and knowledge exchange activities of national and international standing and impact in the context of design and screen cultures.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Educated to PhD level; with expertise in postcolonial / decolonial studies and /or critical race/ethnic studies.
- You will hold a clear track record of research that relates to written outputs and/or practice-based outputs.
- You will have experience of teaching, leadership and educational administration in higher/further education.
- You are able to work confidently and effectively with a diverse student cohort.
- You will have demonstrable ability to teach design and/or screen theories to postgraduate and PhD level.
- You will be expected to design and deliver inspiring teaching, assessment, and research supervision, and motivate students.
- You will have an experience in a range of research-led teaching methods and delivery of course content.
- You are able to work as part of a team.
