Bristol, United Kingdom St Peter's Hospice Full time

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice, giving people in our community comfort and dignity at the end of their life, whilst also supporting their loved ones. Our vital work relies heavily on income from gifts in wills and we’re looking for a passionate individual to help us manage this significant income stream.

As **Legacy Officer**, you’ll manage our caseload of legacies from notification through to completion, working on a range of estate values and complexities and identifying and resolving tax, probate, trust and property issues.

As well as working with professional executors, you’ll also liaise with lay executors and next of kin, so sensitivity and compassion are critical in order to protect relationships, reputation and income.

Legacy income is a key growth area for the Hospice and working alongside the Legacy Marketing Manager and wider fundraising team, you’ll be playing an important role in the future success of the Hospice, including leading on an engagement strategy for local professionals to build awareness and help to grow income.

If you have experience in charity legacy administration, you understand probate and you want to make a meaningful difference to a well-loved local charity, then we’d love to hear from you.

**To carry out this role successfully you will**:

- Have significant experience in estate administration (contentious and non-contentious), gifts in wills, probate, tax and trust law
- Be highly organised and self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with professional and lay executors as well as next of kin and Hospice supporters
- Be a great relationship builder with the ability to confidently develop relationships with local professionals both remotely and in person
- Hold a recognised, relevant qualification e.g. solicitor, CILEX, STEP, CiCLA, Diploma in Charity Legacy Management

**What we can offer you**:

- Salary: from £32,500 to £36,250 FTE per annum, dependent on experience
- Working hours: 0.8 (30 hours per week) across Monday - Friday
- Office location: Long Ashton, Bristol - Hybrid

For more information, please view the job description located at the end of this page or contact Sarah Allen-Gunn, Director of Fundraising and Communications at.

St Peter's Hospice is a well-loved hospice that provides extensive inpatient and community services, in Bristol and the surrounding areas. Every year St Peter's Hospice makes a difference in the lives of thousands of patients and their families when it matters most.

Many of our staff work directly with patients and their families in nursing, health care and medical jobs. Others raise money to support patient care through our chain of over 40 charity shops and our fundraising activities. We also have a significant number of staff working in varied office-based roles.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive, safe and healthy workplace that boosts creativity and motivation.

Our Inpatient Unit is a state-of-the-art centre of clinical excellence, that was built with the generous support of the people of Bristol. Beyond our Inpatient Unit, you'll find our team in homes and on the phone 24/7. More recently in response to the pandemic we have moved some services online to continue support for our patients.

The Hospice is also a centre of educational excellence and we teach other healthcare professionals about how to care for people at the end of their lives, supporting the NHS and care homes provide end of life care.
