**About the Department**:
Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) delivers a professional and responsive service to the School to ensure that student number targets are met by recruiting and admitting well-qualified applicants. This includes development and delivery of exciting marketing campaigns to communicate the values of SOAS and the benefits of studying here, and in-person recruitment across UK, EU and International markets to programmes delivered on-campus, via distance and online learning, and through our partnerships overseas.

In Admissions, the team aims to deliver a professional, fair and efficient applicant experience, whilst providing academic departments with advice on process and acting as the institutional repository for qualifications expertise.

The Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions team will work particularly closely with central professional services including, Partnerships, Registry, Student and Academic Services, IT, Legal and Governance, Estates and all the Academic Departments.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to deliver student recruitment activities to an agreed market plan for the UK. The role holder will deliver a range of activities in schools and colleges, developing relationships with stakeholders such as teachers and careers advisors.

With a detailed understanding of the School’s academic portfolio and departmental targets, the role holder will represent SOAS at events and exhibitions across the UK. This will include support of the School’s widening access and participation strategy.

The UK Recruitment officer is a vital role in developing SOAS’s engagement with Home fee paying students and achieving ambitious student number targets. The post holder will be responsible for driving recruitment in key regions across the UK and supporting all UK based activity undertaken by MSRA, Advancement, Partnerships, the Directors Office and the wider university.

Responsibility will be given for determining, planning, and implementing the University's recruitment activities in key regions including accountability for allocated budgets and ensuring appropriate return on investment. Designing, implementing and developing marketing and recruitment strategies for each region the post holder manages and overseeing a marketing communications plan for these region (please note markets may be adjusted from time to time).

You will also be required to work closely with the Study Abroad Unit, Summer School and Short Courses team, and wider MSRA directorate including the Admissions, Marketing and Comms teams and with relevant departments and directorates across the university involved in international activity such as the Partnerships and Advancement teams, the Directors Office and the University’s academic departments.

In undertaking these activities, you will be an effective and supportive member of the UK Recruitment team and the wider Recruitment team, acting as an ambassador for the University both in the UK and possibly overseas.

**You will need to demonstrate**:
Ability to undertake detailed market analyses including regular reports for a range of audiences, providing statistical and trend analysis, benchmarking activities, market research, horizon scanning and competitor analysis.
Experience in working proactively to contact and build relationships with IK schools and colleges as well as other HEIs to maximise opportunities to engage with prospective students.
Be able to travel extensively, according to the agreed market plan.
A proven ability to deal with a varied and complex workload, including the ability to organise your own workload, prioritising a variety of tasks while working under pressure and to strict deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as a committed team member, working on own initiative.
Excellent communication skills - including written skills, networking skills, confident public speaking with excellent presentation skills.
