Therapy Assistant Practitioner Apprentice
6 months ago
This is a developmental role. The apprentice will work towards progression into the post of Therapy Assistant Practitioner through successful completion of the Therapy Practitioner Apprenticeship programme. For those Assistant Practitioners who wish to progress into Registered Practice, the apprenticeship can provide credits into some Higher Education programmes aligned to professional registration.
The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Therapy Assistant Practitioner within the service and through completion of the foundation degree apprenticeship programme which may include working in a variety of clinical placements and delivery of person-centred care.
The Therapy Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and the training provider.
If the post holder is not successful in completing the Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship qualification, then they will revert to the Rehabilitations Assistant role and the job requirements will be detailed within this job description.
The apprentice is required to satisfy all the academic requirements to proceed with each level of learning. This will be passed by the host training provider. Skills or skills obtained with the training provider will be applied in context of a substantive role to enhance personal development.
During the initial phase of the apprenticeship, all work activities will be under direct guidance and supervision of a registered and competent person. As the apprenticeship progresses, and following discussion and agreement with supervisors, supervision and guidance will be both direct and indirect.

LCHS recognises the increasing demand for more flexibility in working practices in order to accommodate the personal goals and commitments that employees experience at different stages during their working lives. Flexible working opportunities such as part-time working, compressed hours, job shares, and hybrid working models can help staff to balance their personal and work commitments. Arrangements can be put in place if it can be shown that the needs of the individual can be balanced with those of the service and the impact on other team members, enabling the Trust to recruit and retain skilled staff, raise staff morale, reduce absenteeism and respond to changing service needs more effectively.

The Registered Practitioner remains accountable for the appropriate and effective delegation of activities and must ensure that the Apprentice has the competency, confidence, and expertise to carry out such activities. Having accepted the activity, the Apprentice is accountable for their actions. In a situation where the Apprentice feels they do not have the necessary skills or ability then they must alert the registered practitioner immediately
