**Location**: Supported Living and Short Break Services, various locations, Hertfordshire
**Salary**: £22,460 (£11.64 an hour) with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £23,711 (£12.29 an hour)*
**Hours**: Variable
**Contract**: Permanent
- salary inclusive of enhancement for working 20% of time at the weekend. Sleep In allowances are paid at £40 per night. There are opportunities to work additional hours and overtime across the Service.

**Diversity**:We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce

Want to work in adult care?

Unsure if you can commit to set weekly hours?

Looking to earn extra money?

You can support someone to live their best life whilst working hours which suit you

**About our service**

Our new Bank team offers you the opportunity to fit work around your study, family life or caring commitments. As a Bank team member, you will be part of our service, gaining experience as a valued member of the team.

Supported living and short breaks services support adults with various disabilities. Some have learning or physical disabilities and need high levels of physical care, others can meet their own day to day needs but may have behaviours of concern, mental ill-health or just a need for support to get through their everyday lives.

**What you’ll do**

Work in peoples’ own homes on our sites, to support them with:

- Meeting their basic daily needs and achieve their goals
- Personal hygiene, eating and drinking
- Keeping their homes clean
- Managing their money
- Taking their medication
- Attending health appointments
- Joining in with social and leisure activities at home and in their local community

In short breaks, people rely on you to support them to enjoy their time away from home while their carers have a well-deserved break.

**What you’ll need**
**Most of our services need you to support people with personal care, in some this involves using moving and handling equipment and in those services, you would need to be physically able to manage this type of work.

We have shifts available on days or nights, including weekends and bank holidays. You would choose the shifts which suit you and can work at one location or across several sites. All we ask is that you commit to working regular hours with us.

You don’t have to have experience or qualifications for this role - we will support you with all the training you need, including the Care Certificate and RQF award. You will need to attend mandatory training on weekdays in order to be offered shifts and will be paid for this.

You just need the right values and a willingness to learn.

**About Hertfordshire County Council**
**Hertfordshire County Council is a trusted employer offering extensive training and opportunities to develop within your role and beyond. Most of our managers started out in a role like this and have been supported to develop their skills and progress in their careers.

The Council’s pension scheme is second to none and we also offer a great range of shopping discounts through our Herts Rewards scheme.

**Additional Information** Benefits of working for us**:

- Flexible Working Arrangements (depending on the role)
- Excellent Career Development
- Salary Exchange for Additional Benefits
- Excellent Pension Scheme with Employer Contributions

**English Fluency**:The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required). Further information about the legal requirement can be found here.

The Council requires employees to abide by legislation and best practice to enable Hertfordshire to achieve this. This role has been identified as requiring a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. For more information Click Here
