Recovery Officer

We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused part time, 20 hours per week, Permanent Recovery Officer to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date Council Tax and Business Rates records, as well as handling inquiries from the public, colleagues, and external organisations.

A key part of the role will be contacting customers who have outstanding Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debts. To maximum the chance of being able to speak to people, some of your working hours may be outside of our normal core hours.

**About the role**
- Ensure all relevant customer and company information is captured and recorded accurately
- Manage workload in order to meet the demands and targets within the function
- To pursue outstanding Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debts which have reached advanced recovery stages in line with the appropriate authority’s Recovery Policy
- Communicate with outside organisations, including Employers, Courts, Enforcement Agents, The Department for Works and Pensions and The Insolvency Service
- Provide technical recovery expertise, advice and direction to internal and external customers
- Work flexible hours in line with the needs of the service and to work hours which are outside the normal core working hours

**You will need**
- GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English)
- Good IT skills
- High attention to detail and ability to delve deeper to find the answers
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer focused approach
- Knowledge of Council Tax and/or Business Rates legislation, or experience of working in a debt recovery environment is desirable but not essential
