HSE Recruitment are working with a leading Facilities Management company in the Birmignham area to find them a Health and Safety and Assurance Advsior in the Estates and Facilities department. This is a great opportunity to shape how safety is managedin the business, to assess what is in place and improve it to suit the business needs.
This role reports inoto the Head of Facilities. There are around 350 staff working for the company across a range of sites in the Birmingham and Solihull area at a range of NHS facilities. They provide hard and soft services and employ all of their own staff.
This role is a hybrid role with a base location (likely to be the new HQ in North Birmingham), a mixture of visiting sites and home working. Standard working hours at 8-4 Monday-Friday but earlier/later starts and finishes aren’t a problem, the trust is thereto make sure the job is done.
There is some involvement with the NHS H&S team but H&S is tailored to their needs. This role will work with them but it’s about establishing strong H&S processes into your company that work for you, then conducting assurance audits to ensure compliance. Thereis a suite of documents but they need reviewed, a gap analysis completed and a plan of action created and tackled. There is a desire in the medium and long term to go for ISO 45001 and 14001 accreditations but it’s about taking one step at a time, understandwhat you have, establish a set of standards, policies, and procedures, embed those, audit against those and make improvements before going for this.
A snapshot of what you will be involved in:

- Strategy, Systems and Procedures and Risk
- produce a working set of Health and Safety Standards, Monitor and assist with development of risk assessments and update a risk and Compliance Register, coordinator RA register.
- Training, Culture, and Knowledge - Do inductions and organising and delivering a variety of training courses all whilst promoting a positive health and safety culture
- Incident, and Accident Reporting and Analysis Monitoring and Reporting
- Advice, Guidance, Participation, Co-ordination, and Support with key stakeholders and groups within the company.

What we are looking for:

- NEBOSH Certificate level qualification as a minimum.
- 2-3 year’s experience in a similar advisory role.
- Background in estates/facilities management would be ideal but we will consider other industries.
- Someone professional, who has a good attention to detail, organised, reliable and self motivated.
- Engaging and personable, able to work with the staff but who can be tough and direct when needed.

Salary is £35,000- £42,000. Package is 27 days holiday+ BH, pension, life insurance 2x salary, Medicash, a Company assistance programme and mileage paid for travel outside of the base location.
