We are looking for a **Policy and Public Affairs Executive **to join our small team.

**Location**:Gilwell Park, Chingford/ Hybrid with working from home or Homebased (but frequent travel will be required)

**Salary**:£32,553 Band E, Level 3, inclusive outer London weighting

**Term**:6 month fixed term contract

**Working Hours**:35 hours per week

**About the Policy and Public Affairs Executive Role**:
We are a small, dynamic team that has a varied workload. In a typical week we might: meet with an MP at a local Scout group, go to a youth sector workshop to discuss a shared vision for the sector, interview group Scout leaders to feed into a policy position we are developing, or host a webinar with our team of youth advocates supporting them to develop their skills and promote Scouting externally.

**Key responsibilities as our Policy and Public Affairs Executive**:

- Supporting the organisation of an advocates training day; arranging regular monthly check in calls
- Supporting the organisation of policy roundtables; briefing senior leaders so they will prepared to speak at events and understand logistics for events’ organising a series of 1:1 meetings
- Developing policy positions to present to political parties to influence their manifestos
- Promotion of our ‘Employability Badge’ research; forming new partnerships and relationships with youth employability organisations
- Support volunteers, young people and senior stakeholders to act as a credible advocates for Scouts.
- Attending meetings with politicians and decision makers. These may include out of hours working and travel across the UK.
- Deputise for the Interim Head of Policy and Public Affairs as required

**What we are looking for in our Policy and Public Affairs Executive**:

- Ability to undertake direct influencing activity and support projects in a Public affairs/Governmental/Policy environment
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing and proofreading
- Gravitas to engage authoritatively with senior external stakeholders and advocate for Scouts
- Ability to brief senior colleagues with high quality written briefings, intelligence, summaries, speech notes
- Experience of representing an organisation at external meetings where you had to argue a position
- Some experience of designing research, consultation and development of proposals
- Proactive problem solver and collaborative in approach
