**Day-to-day tasks**:

- Actively engage with the V&A’s collection and collaborate with V&A curatorial and engagement teams to identify and develop research territories
- Actively engage with V&A colleagues and wider research activities in a manner supportive of V&A East’s aims to stimulate and support innovative cross-disciplinary developments in working processes and methodologies
- Developing understanding of the range of scholarship in the specialist field; developing personal links with colleagues in regional, national and international museums
- Prepare and deliver an agreed number of research seminars and related public engagement events intended for a range of constituencies, including students, V&A staff, museum professionals, makers, business leaders, academic researchers and the wider public
- Explore opportunities for developing and growing your research project beyond the duration of the researcher position, through partnerships and joint funding bids
- Developing understanding of the Museum collections management systems and documentation and their research potential
- Collaborating with the wider V&A East curatorial team on the development of the pre-opening and operational public programme
- Representing V&A through participation in professional and social networks and visits

**We are looking for someone who has**:

- Academic background and record of scholarship in a relevant field, as well as demonstrable evidence of a variety of interests and breadth of knowledge beyond the specialist field
- Demonstrable enthusiasm for telling stories about collections through temporary and permanent collection displays, exhibitions, publications, learning and engagement in an innovative and creative manner
- Experience of managing external stakeholders, such as project partners and organisations, with diplomacy
- Shares our V&A East values of Equity, Sustainability, Generosity, Collaboration & Creativity
- Excellent standard of written English
- Significant interpersonal and consultative skills, including the ability to communicate, present, negotiate, influence and build credibility with colleagues and external parties
- Experience of using MS Office and other relevant IT systems to an intermediate / advanced level
- Proven ability to manage a high workload and multiple priorities whilst meeting deadlines
