We are working with a "Good" Ofsted-rated mainstream secondary school in Uxbridge, Hillingdon who are currently looking to recruit a DT Technician who is competent and experienced. It is essential you have an understanding the various areas of Design Technology-including Resistant Materials, ability to CUT wood and have It is beneficial you know how to use specialist equipment and using ALL catering equipment with knowledge of food preparation. The position is a short term supply position.

This role will be working within the DT department and you will liaise with the head of departments and class teachers, assisting pupils of a range ages and abilities from Key Stage 3 to 4, ensuring that students' needs are met and any challenging behaviouris monitored to maintain a safe working environment and help ensure lessons run smoothly and efficiently.

The school is near a tube and over ground station and is also accessible by a number of popular bus routes.

Other duties include:

- Prepare apparatus, tools and materials and set up equipment for use in practical classes.
- Set up and, on occasion, carry out demonstrations.
- Ensure that appropriate stock level of apparatus and tools are maintained. Maintain stock books, including carrying out or arranging stock checks.
- Retrieve and clean away apparatus/ tools ect after use. Laundering of tea towels, oven gloves and washing up cloths.
- Place and progress orders, ensuring spending is in line with Faculty policy.
- Identify equipment needs in consultation with teaching and technician staff to participate in the selection of new equipment.

**Key skills and experience needed**:

- Previous support work within a school or other transferable child-related experience
- Good food technology and catering experience and skills
- A firm presence and strong behaviour management
- Previous one to one, small group work and/or whole class support
- Professional manner. Proactive, engaging and empathetic.
- Enthusiastic, friendly, patient and determined approach
- Experience or knowledge within special educational needs
