**Education Welfare Officer Location: Swindon**
**Salary: £17,000 plus benefits Part Time (3 days) - Term Time Only**
**Contract: Permanent**

The role of the Education Welfare Officer is to support families, pupils, and schools in addressing all attendance matters, and where necessary, enforcing relevant legislation to ensure that children have the opportunity to thrive and achieve the best outcomes.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all our staff to share this commitment.
- Have significant experience of working with schools and/or families
- Have experience of inter-agency working to support children and/or families
- Have working knowledge of child protection / safeguarding of children and young people
- Be able to work independently and with initiative
- Be able to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact
- Have a pragmatic approach
- Have good communication skills
- Be energetic, well-motivated and flexible
- Have a professional manner and plenty of common sense
- Be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Good IT skills including fully conversant with MS packages
- Ability to write reports for schools and referrals.
