London, United Kingdom FindersKeepers Rec. Full time

**PLEASE NOTE THIS BANK TO PERMANENT ROLE IS BASED IN WANDSWORTH, SW12**

**Ref: DV/ICM**

***

D is an independent, chatty 11 year old and like most girls of her age loves to shop and go to movies with her friends. She also loves arts and crafts and is a very bright, academic young person who attends mainstream school, she definitely doesn’t let her disability keep her from enjoying life to the fullest and is looking for a buddy/enabler to help support her and manage the transition to secondary school.

**The Role/Client**:

- D has reduced strength in her lower limbs caused by an incomplete spinal injury as a baby. She is mobile with the assistance of specialist orthotics to help support her balance and mobility. Occasional personal care will be required in the role.
- During term times you will need to be at the family home for 06:50 to assist with preparing D for school. You would then be required to take D to the station so she can catch a train at Clapham Junction where she will travel to school with her friends. There may also be occasions where you will be expected to collect D from school to take her to therapy appointments such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy and return her to school/home after the appointment has finished. During school holidays you may be offered approximately two x 4 hour shifts a week or a longer day if accompanying D and her family on days out.
- You will start this role as a bank worker however, the role is very much a developing one and may become a permanent role in the future as the role develops and the hours required are finalised.
- This role is a great opportunity for a flexible buddy/enabler looking for a role which they can help develop whilst ensuring the smooth transition from primary to secondary school for D which can be a challenging time for any young person. You will have the opportunity to work with D’s Mother and younger sister and the team of therapists including Physiotherapists, Orthotists and Occupational Therapists, interaction which makes this a very interesting role.

**About You**:

- You need to be a caring and reliable individual with a positive and youthful outlook to bring a sense of fun to this role. You will be nurturing and encouraging to build up her confidence to increase her independence.

**Pay**:

- £16 per hour on weekdays
- £18 per hour weekends/bank holidays

**Hours/Shifts**:
This will initially be a bank role whilst the hours needed for the role are fully established.

Morning shifts during term time are likely to be 06:50 to 09:15, with possible after-school shifts on some days of the week for around 3-4 hours (possibly longer) and longer shifts in school holidays are likely to be offered of around 4 hours a couple of times a week or the occasional longer day.
