We’re looking for an engaging and knowledgeable Protection and Control Trainer to join our Technical Training team at the Eakring Learning Centre.

Reporting into the Protection and Control Training Manager, you will design and deliver Protection and Control courses for Technicians and Engineers using innovative and interactive blended learning solutions.

Using your knowledge and experience of maintaining and commissioning legacy protection schemes and numerical protection relays, you will procure, develop and build new light current training aids and protection relays to support learning. You will also use your expert knowledge to prepare risk assessments and method statements minimise training hazards.

As the trainees progress you will proactively manage their performance on and off the job, operate within a defined training quality assurance framework and conduct NVQ/QCF Assessments. Similarly driving your own development and continuous improvement.

To succeed in this role, you will have excellent communication and relationship building skills, have experience of working in UK based power networks, power stations or an electricity industry supply chain business and be enthused by or have experience of coaching or mentoring others.

Training will be delivered primarily at our Eakring Training Centre but travel to alternative training centres and operational sites throughout the UK and some overnight stays could be required.

**What we're looking for**:
Essential
- Extensive relevant experience with modern protection & control equipment.
- Proven experience of maintaining or commissioning substation light current equipment and associated safety requirements
- Good degree of IT skills and be conversant with Microsoft PowerPoint and Teams.
- Experience in using injection test equipment.
Desirable
- Previous training experience, knowledge sharing and coaching of others would be advantageous.
- Current or expired TP141 Commissioning Engineer authorisation
- Current or expired SAP with experience working on High Voltage and Low Voltage equipment.
- NEBOSH certificate
- Experience using relay manufacturers software packages.
- Knowledge of IEC61850 Ethernet based Substation Control Systems
