AK Teaching and Education Agency is seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to join our team and work in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) schools in the Blyth area. The role involves providing support to learners who may display challenging behaviours, fostering a positive and nurturing environment to facilitate their educational journey.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support SEMH learners in managing and overcoming challenging behaviours within an educational setting.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages positive behaviour and personal growth.
- Provide one-to-one or group support as required, promoting social and emotional development.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and patience in challenging situations.

- Provide support and assistance to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Implement individualized programs and strategies to promote skill development and independence
- Educate and work closely with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistency in care and support
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Support individuals in community integration and participation in recreational activities
- Document progress and maintain accurate records of services provided

Qualifications:

- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to adapt to the needs of individuals with varying abilities and learning styles
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others
- Experience in toddler care or working with children is a plus
