AK Teaching is seeking a resilient and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis to work within a school environment in Newcastle. This school caters for children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learners within the classroom alongside the class teacher and potentially other teaching assistants.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide one-to-one or group support to students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create individualised support plans for students.
- Encourage and motivate students to engage positively in their learning and social interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour incidents.

**Requirements**:

- Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging behaviours.
- Availability Monday to Friday between 8am and 4.30pm.
- Previous experience working with individuals with challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
- Background in sports coaching, prison service, military, or support working is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
