Principal Project Ecologist

We are looking to appoint a Principal (or higher) Project Ecologist to join our growing team in Belfast and work on some engaging projects within a supportive team of technical experts.
- You will be the Project Ecologist for a large and high profile infrastructure project in Northern Ireland while being embedded within WSP’s Scotland and Ireland Ecology Team.
- Reviewing of Construction Environment Management Plans (CEMPs), Ecological Method Statements and other documentation produced by Contractors.
- Routine audit visit of site activities, and presence on site during works near highly sensitive ecological features (i.e. commencement of works in SACs).
- Reviewing of site conditions and environmental reporting logs.
- Auditing on behalf of client on ecological compensation and design features and they have they been built / installed correctly - e.g. artificial setts / smooth newt ponds / bat crossing points.
- An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline and are full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (or equivalent)
- Experience with ecological and environmental clerk of works and auditing construction sites.
- Good organisational skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant NI wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
- Familiarity with/ holder of NI survey species specific survey licences
- Strong teamwork and collaboration ethic, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience in Protected Species mitigation and Mitigation licences.
