Grade 7- £38607-£42795pro rata. This post is 0.8FTE (28.8 per week) 2 x Year Fixed Term Contract/ Secondment Opportunity**

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will monitor and evaluate the educational provision, attainment and outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers in schools, academies and settings on behalf of the London Borough of Havering.

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will champion, support and challenge all settings, schools and academies and local authority services with regard to their contribution and the measurable outcomes for all looked-after children and young people

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will ensure that an accurate record of the location and educational progress of all looked-after children by the London Borough of Havering, including those children who are placed in another authority or who are looked-after by another authority, but educated in the London Borough of Havering.

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will ensure that all looked-after children to access support identified in their PEP and that Pupil Premium Plus (PP+) is spent in line with Department for Education (DfE) guidance, to raise educational attainment.

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will work proactively with social workers to ensure that the care and educational placements are secured at the same time, thus avoiding the risk of poor attendance and disengagement from education

The Looked-after Children’s Education Co-ordinator will work with alternative providers and key stakeholders to ensure that the needs of looked-after children are met and promoted appropriately

This is an excellent opportunity to make an important contribution to improving the life chances of vulnerable children. Reporting to the Assistant Virtual School Head (AVSH) for CLA.

**About You**

You will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and a proven ability to guide, motivate and persuade others

You will be able to work collaboratively within a multi-agency disciplinary environment

You will have knowledge of the statutory education system and experience of working with vulnerable children and young people in an educational and/or care setting is essential

You will be able to have effective systems in place to monitor, analyse and report on pupil progress and attainment data. You will be able to use this data to shape the virtual school offer in obtaining the best outcomes for the authority’s looked after children including those placed out-of-authority.
