Payroll & Pensions Manager

We are delighted to be working with a great organisation in Chelmsford looking for an experience Payroll and Pensions Manager on a 12 month contract basis.
This role will be 37. 5 hours and will be on a hybrid basis in a great working environment.
This role will be to manage all aspects of the payroll ensuring accurate payments are made for all payrolls on a monthly basis. Ensure resources are allocated appropriately to meet the payroll deadlines and that work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure correct processing and payment of additional benefits schemes in place including childcare vouchers, cycle to work schemes as well as relevant statutory deductions including attachment of earnings, court orders in line with payment deduction agreements.
- Produce monthly reports to agreed deadlines (e.g. to inform and provide data to Financial Services, HMRC). Check and take action on pre and post payroll reports as required and work with Financial Services on the completion and submission of annual statutoryreturns.
- Line manage the payroll and pensions team advising, supporting and coaching team members. Recruit and induct new team members, appraise and review performance regularly and ensure that agreed training and development needs are met. Set quality standards forall aspects of the team’s work and monitor that these are achieved and consistently maintained.
- Lead the continuous development of our Payroll system reviewing and testing specifications to implement an effective in-house payroll and pensions service that complies with best practice and adheres to relevant University policy and statutory requirements.
- Lead on the maintenance of the Payroll System aligning processes and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient running of the payroll and pension services.
- Act as the organisation’s specialist in all matters relating to pensions and payroll, e.g. Auto-enrolment, PAYE, NICs, P11Ds, PSA and RTI.
- Liaise with colleagues in Financial Services to ensure financial data is recorded and monitored appropriately.
- Deal with complex payroll and pension queries that have been escalated by the team. Undertake detailed analysis of the situation, present results and provide advice to the Senior HR team.
