Associate Director of Nursing, Surgery

Leadership and management To be a clinically credible and visible leader able to provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure that allcare delivered within the Care group is safe, reliable, and efficient. Provide an operational, strategic and professional overview alongside expert clinical advice into the Care Group Management Triumvirate, ensuring that the voice of the child is considered at all times. Be managerially responsible for all colleagues within the sphere of responsibility. Lead colleagues in line with our CARE values, taking a person centred approach and ensuring colleagues feel supported and safe at work.
Responsibilities within the managerial role include recruitment, retention and selection, performance management (i.e. objective setting and performance review), training and development and disciplinary issues. To support the Chief Nurse/Deputy Chief Nurse to ensure that the educational and competency requirements of all nursing colleagues are met. To translate the vision for the future for colleagues in a way that engages them and helps them understand their contribution to achieving patient centred, Care Group and organisational objectives.
Lead the Care Group Governance agenda in ensuring the quality, standard and range of care are optimised within the available resources and in line with the Trust Strategic vision. Ensure there are processes in place to measure and monitor risk and that all incidents are recorded, investigated and that the learning from them is disseminated throughout the Care Group. In conjunction with the Care Group Triumvirate, lead the delivery of service improvement work drawing on knowledge and experience, appraising the options available and taking action to implement and evaluate outcomes. Use improvement methodologies to work with colleagues to implement and evaluate the changes made.
