As part of our service we provide the following specialities for our patients;
Our imaging department undertakes 25000 transthoracic echocardiograms a year in adult, paediatric and congenital services. In addition the team provides stress echo, bubble studies, a physiologist led valve clinic and plans to introduce a physiologist led TOE service. The department also hosts the BSE practical exam.

The Nuclear Cardiology department performs approximately 2700 myocardial perfusion scans per year

Cardiac Rhythm Management follows up approximately 3500 pacemakers and 2000 complex devices a year and we have a substantial and growing remote monitoring service.

Our non-invasive service includes exercise tolerance tests, ambulatory ECG monitoring and physiologist/healthcare scientist led CPET.

We have 5 cardiac angiography labs offering a 24hour primary PCI service for coronary intervention and also facilitate rotablation, pressure wires, IVUS and intra-aortic balloon pumps. The Structural intervention service includes TAVI, Mitraclips and PFO closures.

As part of our Electrophysiology service we undertake approximately 800 ablations a year (400 of these being complex mapping cases such as atrial fibrillation ablations), 550 pacemaker implants and 200 Complex device implants.

The Department incorporates a team of specialist nurse practitioners and advanced nurse practitioners which specialise both in cardiac arrhythmias and complex device patients.

Oxford University Hospitals is a world renowned centre of clinical excellence and is one the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. We became a Foundation Trust in 2015 enabling us to work more effectively in partnership with both our patients and the local community to provide high quality healthcare in a wide range of clinical specialities.

We also support Modernising Scientific Careers and take a range of students from Apprentice to HSST level. We are a practical assessment centre for BSE and participate in the STP OSFA assessments for the National School for Healthcare Science. As a department we have established links with the University and are actively involved in research.

We regularly perform live cases as part of a national and international training programme

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

As part of your development we can offer support in attaining BHRS and BSE accreditation to further your professional and career progression.

A BSc in clinical physiology or an equivalent is an essential requirement for this post and ideally the applicant should have 12 months qualification experience. Professional registration is preferred ie RCCP or AHCS.

Oxfordshire is surrounded by beautiful countryside, close to the Cotswolds and London with good transport links. Oxford, as a city, has a wide range of attractions, restaurants and nightlife.
