**Job summary**:
Head Information Management (HD IM) at the Defence School of CIS (DSCIS) leads with the delivery of the technical school's Information Management (IM) and Information Exploitation (IX) Plan. Duties of the post include functional/technical oversight of IM activities across all distributed iHubs serving the training organisation.

Hd IM will control IM activity to ensure compliance with DPA legislation and IM governance process. This is achieved through the management and active control of the information life-cycle. The post requires that Hd IM routinely polices the DSCIS information domain to ensure compliance with regulation and promote good I-Administration.

Hd IM is responsible for managing local procedures to ensure information is available at the right time, right place and right format using SharePoint as the primary platform. The post holder has the authority to financially approve submissions through the Service Catalogue.

The post holder will be required to work with Business Intelligence to develop the Data Management Strategy in support of business performance reporting and tracking of the trainee learning journey.

**Job description**:
The key tasks Hd IM are as follows:
~ Manage IM across DSCIS in accordance with the IM strategy and plan.

~ Develop the plan to exploit data and information in support of the business.

~ Protect the corporate information set and comply with regulation.

~ Manage IM as a distributed service providing for its confidentiality, integrity and availability.

~ Champion best practice, including record management, the use of SharePoint and Teams.

**Responsibilities**:
~ Planning and delivering improvements in DSCIS Information Management (IM) processes to ensure information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, retained, and eventually disposed of, in accordance with the law and MOD policy and guidance. This includes reviewing the quality of data, ensuring best practice is being used across DSCIS, duplicated information is rationalised, and information is stored in a structured, secure and accessible manner.

~ Act as the focal point for Information Exploitation (IX) activities across DSCIS. Using the full suite of Microsoft Applications available on MODNET, assist teams to digitise processes and develop digital dashboards and apps to improve business efficiency by improving access to key, reliable, structured and actionable information.

~ Be the focal point for all DSCIS General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) requirements. GDPR requirements are to be met and maintained providing a level of assurance to DSCIS Commandant. Act as the DSCIS Data Protection Advisor, ensuring a GDPR Governance Structure is established within and maintain a rolling educational awareness campaign to raise awareness amongst personnel. This includes preparing any compliance report products for the Senior Information Officer.

~ Hd IM will be the main focal point for Freedom of Information Requests (FOI) for DSCIS in accordance with the law and MOD policy and guidance.

~ Act as Service Catalogue Authorised Financial Approver and Lead Local Security Officer for HQ DSCIS and cover as Expert User and LSO where required.

~ Manage subordinates in HQ DSCIS iHub including the development of training plan and the raising of performance reports.

**Person specification**:
This is a role where a person with a passion for IM will thrive.The job holder will need to demonstrate a true understanding of Information Management and have the capability of demonstrating the Government Knowledge and Information Management (GKIM) skills framework for Information Management to a level 3.

The ideal individual will have excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong organisational skills.Excellent IT skills, including word-processing, PowerPoint, SharePoint and spreadsheets. They will be able to communicate complex ideas in an easy to understand manner.

An understanding of security procedure for handling and protection of classified material, including control and storage of process documentation and media.
