An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Deputy Team Leader (Senior staff nurse) within HMP Birmingham to join Birmingham Recovery Team on a 12 month secondment/ fixed term contract. We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals who are passionate about providing high quality and compassionate care within a unique environment.

Birmingham Recovery team’s role involves assessing, planning, and treating patients that come into prison with substance issues be that alcohol or drugs. Having just won a tender and now have a new psychosocial team joining us it is an exciting time for the addictions team here and we need a dynamic and eager person to join the team, bringing fresh ideas and a willingness to evolve the service.
- including staff supervision and support. As you may know this is a very busy time of change within the prison, an opportunity for us to maximise on those changes to make our own. This is an opportunity to be a part of those changes at a management level.

This role requires Prison clearance and vetting and a minimum of 2 years experience at Band 5.

Experience working within Secure and Offender healthcare is desirable.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse who are able to work in a challenging, dynamic and recovery focused environment.

You will need to demonstrate a range of skills including the following:
Effective leadership and management

Staff supervision and appraisals

Rota management

Effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, compassion and critical self-reflection
