As the Head of People Partnering and Wellbeing (PPW) you will lead a customer-focused strategic partnering function, supporting Districts and Departments across SYP to deliver their people agenda, in line with our People Strategies. You will be instrumental in leading cultural change to P&OD delivery both within the team and wider organisation.

The team is split into four teams which cover the following aspects of a people service: Occupational Health and Wellbeing, Policy Development, Pay and Reward and People Advisory services including People Partners.

You will be an empowered, integral member of the P&OD Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Head of People and Organisational Development. You will work closely with P&OD colleagues to engender a ‘one team’ approach to all people matters. You will offer invaluable, quality strategic advice at a senior level and will ensure delivery of an effective people service.

We would love someone to join us who can build rapport quickly and work across South Yorkshire Police to deliver key priorities. You’ll also be committed to developing the team to ensure you have the right skills and motivation needed to deliver outstanding services.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Comprehend and translate SYP strategic objectives into the P&OD operational work plan and wellbeing strategy.
- Work with the Programme team responsible for the implementation of a new HR Management System (Oracle Cloud) to ensure it meets needs of SYP.
- Advise the Head of P&OD on complex HR issue and develop effective organisational strategies for HR case management.
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver a responsive and effective service, supporting the Police and Crime Plan for South Yorkshire and our Force Plan on a Page.
- Provide Strategic direction and advice to the Senior Command Team on complex people cases.
- Manage and integrate changes in employment legislation, analysing their impact on the organisation.
- Manage collective bargaining and implement a wider employee relations strategy.
- Implement innovative and impactful approaches to wellbeing.
- Link systems and people policy frameworks that to improve the customer journey.
- Ensure effective communication strategies are developed and deployed.
- Develop and maintain an expert working knowledge of the operational, well-being and the business support team therefore be a point of reference, information and expertise.
- Lead, develop, motivate and engage the partnering and well-being team to enable a high performing team.
- Work collaboratively, with the forces recognised Trade Unions and Police Federation.
- Manage and report on the performance of the Partnering and Wellbeing team, setting performance objectives, holding staff accountable for delivering these and taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the delivery of functional objectives.
- Manage the HR operations budget and other resources and other resources in line with Financial Regulations and Instructions.
- Leading the cultural change, both internally and externally, to an enabling and empowering people service.
