Based on-site at Gamston, reporting to the AGSO Team Leader, you’ll work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of ground aviation activities. Your previous experience in a similar role will enable you to prioritise activities that maximise customer experience and maintain safe operations. You will also receive training as a member of Gamston’s Rescue and Fire Fighting team to respond to an aviation emergency, should the need arise.

**As a Airport Ground Services Officer your mission will involve**:

- Responding to any emergency during the operational hours of the airport
- Positioning and fuelling aircraft in line with local rules and regulations
- Ad-hoc routine maintenance on airport facilities, equipment and hangars, ensuring clean and safe environment for airport users, reporting any defects or safety concerns
- Conducting runway and manoeuvring area inspections, fuel sampling and inspections (e.g., foreign object debris (FOD), snow etc)
- Safety inspections of airport service and support vehicles in line with local SOP.
- Assisting fire prevention duties within airport premises including evacuation procedures, assistance assessing a local fire alarm and maintenance of the site to support safe use by all.
- Helping to ensure site policies are adhered too, including access control, airside driving and dual operation procedures.
- Humanitarian assistance around and about the airfield including any incidents off the airfield as required (e.g., road traffic accidents).
- Supporting all aviation and automotive testing activity, at all times remaining mindful of the potential need to take action in the event of an emergency
- The safe ground movement of all aircraft and company vehicles using the approved equipment and procedures
- Behaving in a professional and courteous manner as part of Gamston Airports customer facing team while working to all operating procedures which take priority over customer requests.

**Skills & experience that will set you up for success in this role**:

- HGV license or, as a minimum, previous work experience manovering, towing or tugging large equipment
- Some experience as an AGSO or similar role or in firefighting and rescue or aviation operations
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and flexible to changing and competing demands
- Ability and willingness to take the lead in unusual incidents and work on initiative
- Physically able to complete all firefighting tasks
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook and Word

**How we work**

This role is based **on-site**, at Retford Gamston Airport, Nottinghamshire DN22 0QL.

**When we work**

You’ll join a 2-week shift pattern, based on 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off covering the Airport opening hours:

- 07:30 to 18:00 Monday to Friday
- 08:30 to 18:00 Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holidays (including overtime pay)

Both full and part time working preferences will be considered for these positions.
