**Role Overview**:
Working within the council’s Strategic Transport team you will support the delivery of Oldham’s Transport Strategy, developing policy and delivering projects and programmes that create an active, safe and clean transport network where walking, cycling and public transport are the most attractive choices for local travel. Working closely with partners at TfGM and colleagues in Highways and Finance you will manage investment programmes and projects that will contribute to meeting the targets set out in both Oldham’s Transport Strategy and the Greater Manchester 2040 Transport Strategy.
This role represents a fantastic opportunity to ensure active and sustainable travel is fully embedded into everything the Council does.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To input into the development of documents such as the Greater Manchester Transport Strategy and the Oldham Transport Strategy, and into the subsequent delivery of objectives and programmes within them
- To co-ordinate the submission of funding bids to various sources for investment in transport programmes
- To ensure the delivery of a range of strategic transport investment programmes
- To represent the Council in dealings with internal and external stakeholders such as Councillors, Council committees and meetings, other local authorities, government bodies, other public sector organisations and private sector companies and suppliers
**Key Requirements**:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:
- Experience of programme management in the highways or similar industry, including demonstrable experience of ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget
- Experience of preparing funding bids and managing secured funding
- Experience of extensive and effective partnership working with a variety of key partners and stakeholders, including resolving conflict between internal and external partners
- Experience of presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders (Councillors, committees, senior management, public sector organisations and Government departments) both verbally and in writing
