Research & Impact Services (R&IS) is seeking two Research Support Officers to provide support across research grants and contracts to the Faculties of Science, Engineering & Medicine and Social Sciences.

**JOB PURPOSE**

To provide dedicated support to the research active staff in the University by providing comprehensive advice and support to researchers on issues relating to grants, contracts and tenders for externally funded research.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

5. Preparing and negotiating contractual and legal agreements, working with the Research Support Manager, as required, concerning liabilities, intellectual property rights and price.

6. Preparing agreements related to contracts and grant-funded activity e.g. sub-contracts and collaboration agreements, working closely with officers in the Research Development and Research Support & Contracts Teams, using University standard agreements, where appropriate.

8. Ensuring that key contractual obligations of the contracts and grants have been highlighted to the researchers and their Head of Departments as appropriate.

10. Liaising with the funding bodies on their procedures, regulations, terms and conditions.

11. Contributing to regular reviews of the terms and conditions of the major research awarding bodies, e.g. Research Councils, charities, Government Departments and the European Commission.

12. Contributing to the development of proposal and project management systems, and research ethics/sponsorship databases management information provision and the promotion of the University's research capabilities, facilities, expertise and successes in research to support the effective management and enhancement of the University’s research activities.

14. To liaise with the R&IS Research Governance & Ethics Team, in order to provide academics with advice and guidance as regards research ethics, research sponsorship and quality assurance.

15. To support the Assistant Director and the Research Support Mangers in the preparation of reports and other documents as required for internal or external audit or compliance visits.
