This roles purpose is to organise work experience placements for schools, colleges and others, including finding placements for people and offering schools work experience weeks for their students.

Arrange work experience weeks for year 10 students, including hosting the event, booking speakers and organising activities.

Develop resources which promote the service provision

Attend careers events to promote NHS careers

Promote good relationships with education providers and other organisations locally and regionally

Produce timely reports for HEE and others where necessary

This post currently sits in the Future Workforce Team in the Corporate Care Group. The role will mainly require home working but there will be the need to travel across the county for events and meetings. The post holder will be supported by the Project Manager for Future workforce who will maintain daily contact to provide advise and support.

The role of work experience co-ordinator is intended to develop activities and initiatives to influence more young people to consider a career in health and care and recognise the various pathways to their chosen career. The post holder will lead the operational activity of the provision including schools and colleges engagement activities. This is a collaborative project that involves co-ordinating activities with multiple professional bodies and partner organisations to the objectives of providing greater status to feeder routes into health and technical roles.

A major focus of the role is building relationships with schools, colleges and internal colleagues to ensure that placements are available. This will involve organising placements ranging from one day to a week, ensuring all the related paperwork is completed in a timely manner. The post holder will also be expected to develop a range of engagement activities to help support students make informed decisions about their future careers. These activities may be one day large scale events covering many professions or longer programmes run over several weeks focusing on one career.

The post holder will be expected to organise, analyse and report upon complex data which tracks individual and provider progress. The post holder will lead the provision, including the development of new provision, of initiatives to engage with young people from schools and colleges. Therefore, the post holder will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, in accordance with the Trust’s educational and workforce strategies. They will support and lead on aspects of the provision which contribute to improving the service and the overall impact of the offer. This would include the oversight of project plans, tracking progress and reporting to relevant managers with updates on the provision, alongside providing quarterly reports on the Trusts engagement with young people to HEE.
