We have an exciting opportunity for an Education Officer to join the RSPCA Newbrook Farmhouse Education Centre on a **Part time (21 Hours a week), 26 Month FTC**. The main purpose of this role will be to assist with the development and delivery of animal welfare education sessions and activities for children and young adults.

Newbrook Farmhouse offers state of the art facilities in 72 acres of countryside providing the best care for those animals that have been abused, rescued from harm and need specialist treatment.

The education programme comprises ambitious, innovative projects that aim to nurture and encourage the values of kindness and compassion towards all animals within children and young people of today. We are aiming to inspire and empower our next generation of animal welfare ambassadors.

To support us in achieving this goal, we are looking for an engaging, enthusiastic and patient individual who enjoys working with people of all ages, from a range of diverse backgrounds, and someone who is passionate about natural history and animal welfare. Sounds interesting? Read on

Here's some of the key work that you will be doing...
- Encouraging and assisting children and young people to make the most of opportunities to develop confidence and skills, an understanding and empathy for animals and opportunity to learn about the valuable work of the RSPCA
- Contributing towards the development, monitoring and evaluation of educational resources and programmes to ensure high quality learning is maintained
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety and child/vulnerable adult safeguarding through understanding and adherence to education and society policies and procedures
- Promoting the work of the centre to schools, youth and children's organisations as well as the general public and the wider community
- Working flexibly on weekdays, and on occasion within school holidays, at evenings and weekends
- It's a varied role so you may find yourself teaching about dog body language, turning your hand to woodwork and biodiversity constructing bird boxes, discussing animal welfare issues & general pet welfare or exploring different ways we can craft and use enrichment toys for animals stimulating their mental agility

What we are looking for in you...
- It would be great if you have experience in Teaching/youth work qualification or equivalent experience of working with children or young people in a relevant setting
- Animal welfare experience would be highly advantageous
- Experience of working in outdoor education, with evidence of practical skills
- Confidence speaking to groups (small and large) as you will be delivering/assisting with public facing events
- Experience of working with children in care or vulnerable young people who are deemed ‘at risk' and/or who may have behavioural challenges
- An interest and/or working experience in emotional support and wellbeing - with strong emotional intelligence
- First aid, Safeguarding and Attachment training
- Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular an ability to network and develop good relationships with stakeholders, children and young people - you really will be an authentic and engaging communicator with the ability to adapt your style to meet your audience
