On behalf of the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) for Elective and Cancer Care will directly oversee and manage the daily operational management of our hospitals and clinical services, ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care. Working alongside other senior clinical and non-clinical leaders the DCOO will lead improvements in services and processes ensuring the patients are at the heart of everything we do.

Lead on all aspects of safe, effective and responsive operations at UHCW, with a priority focus on achievement of key access and performance standards at all times.

Ensure that the operational delivery of services complies fully with the NHSI expectations, CQC standards, key national guidance and requirements as determined by other / external regulatory bodies.

Play a key role in the Corporate Directors Group and Trust Delivery Group.

Take a lead on addressing day to day patient flow issues across both hospital sites,

Ensure that operational and assurance processes are in place for the delivery of clinical services and the management of clinical risk and health care governance within and across the site.

Ensure that policies and procedures are developed and implemented for the successful delivery of operational services.

Establish, lead, maintain and develop effective working relationships with all professional groups working in the group management teams and across the wider Trust.

Daily presence at bed capacity meetings, daily presence within acute footprint and regular presence on every ward and clinical department.

Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer (COO), assuming overall responsibility for senior operational management of the organisation, during absence of the COO.
