**Location: Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh**

**Position: Full-time**

Are you passionate about politics? Do you have a knack for digital storytelling and a drive to break news? The Herald is seeking an energetic and skilled Political Correspondent to join our team based at the Scottish Parliament. This is a unique opportunity to report from the heart of Scotland's political landscape and deliver compelling stories that engage our audience across multiple digital platforms.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Cover daily political developments at the Scottish Parliament, including sessions, committee meetings, and press conferences.
- Conduct interviews with politicians, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging news articles, features, and analysis pieces.
- Produce multimedia content, including video reports and live blogs.
- Maintain a strong social media presence to engage with our audience and promote our content.
- Collaborate with senior editors to develop story ideas and contribute to the overall news agenda.
- Ensure all content is accurate, balanced, and adheres to journalistic ethics and standards.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Proven experience as a journalist, preferably with a focus on Scottish politics.
- Strong digital skills, including proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and multimedia production tools.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex political issues clearly.
- A proactive approach and the energy to chase stories and build contacts within the political sphere.
- A degree in journalism, political science, or a related field is preferred.
