GMMH are looking to appoint to the Wigan Later Life and Memory Service.

This is a new re-configured post and replaces the existing Specialty Doctor post covering LLAMS Services. This enables the post-holder to work at a more senior level with support from Consultant Psychiatrist and having their own case load.

The service’s primary aim is to meet the mental health needs of people with organic mental health conditions, i.e. Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular dementia, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Fronto-temporal dementia (including Pick’s disease) and others, some of whom may also have a functional illness, such as depression and those people with a functional illness whose needs are better met by the later life and memory services. It delivers a fully integrated later life and memory service with four key functions of assessment, early diagnosis, intervention and crisis management within care home settings.

In this post you will be expected to
- Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service.
- Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
- Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations.
- Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
- Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
- Memory assessments - diagnosis and management.
- Supporting Care Home Liaison Team.
