We are looking to recruit an experienced housing support worker for a residential home for complex and challenging 16-18 year old males within a residential setting that are LAC -looked after children within the local authority.

The team is growing to meet the demand of working with Young Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers in need of housing support. However we also support Very challenging youth in need of a safe and secure environment and life guidance which is an important part of the work the team are responsible for.

Our home has 11 ensuite bedrooms

We aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where young people learn, develop independant living skills, discover exciting new ideas and activities, - so they ultimately thrive and grow into motivated, positive, resilient and caring citizens.

**What we're looking for in our Youth Housing support Worker**:

- Friendly, cheerful, positive and approachable
- Able to easily relate to young people and the challenges and issues they face
- Enjoy taking initiative and love working as part of a close team
- Highly professional in your work, with young people, the wider community, partner organisations and colleagues across the board
- A demonstrable track record of understanding the HMO Sector Policies and Cleaning procedures needed to adhere to on a daily basis
- A suitable youth work related qualification (e.g. Level 2 JNC) is desirable but not essential
- Experience of working with children and/or young people in similar settings
- Experience of organising and/or coordinating projects is desirable
- Communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with young people and motivate them to participate in Independant living skills activities and events.
- A working understanding of safeguarding children and young people and how to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Active commitment to and working understanding of equality and diversity, with the ability to work in culturally diverse communities, and readiness to challenge discriminatory behaviour

**What you can expect to be doing as our Youth support Worker**:

- Welcoming young people into Prefer Homes ensuring everything is running smoothly and supporting young people who are engaging with the activities
- Delivering a rich programme of positive activities and reflective sessions,, taking accountability for security and safe working within the building
- Adhering to HMO cleaning regulations withn the building and office
- Ensuring child protection procedures are followed and that the safeguarding of young people is paramount
- Carry out all duties in accordance with Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Data Protection, and with relevant legislation
- Act as a role model for young people, inspiring them to grow

The role will involve promoting independant living skills completeing care plans adhering to Policy and procedures for the HMO sector.

Education: a good standard of education is expected for the role along with a competant use of computers

Key Responsibilities include:

- Undertaking thorough and informed comprehensive assessments of need and risk.
- Working individually and/or collaboratively to produce plans to support young people and their families.
- Assessing, managing, monitoring and reducing risks to service users and others.
- Contributing to complex assessments of need and risk with an aim of improving outcomes whenever possible.
- requiring specialist skills and knowledge to enable appropriate and effective responses to the needs/risks of service users.
- Providing written reports as required, including informed recommendations concerning care/action plans.
- Attending meetings and case reviews.
- Engaging and working in partnership with service users, family members, Police, Health, statutory/voluntary agencies and others as appropriate.
