We are Direct Line Group - home to some of the country's best-known brands including Direct Line, Churchill, Greenflag and NIG. Our vision is to create a world where insurance is personal, inclusive, and a force for good, and our purpose is to help people carry on with their lives, giving them peace of mind now and in the future.
We currently have a rare opportunity to join us as a Chapter Area Lead (CAL) for Pricing and Underwriting for our Direct Line for Business (DL4B) brand
You will ensure the Chapter delivers their best possible value and work in their squads, coaching individuals to grow their skills, helping them enhance and evaluate their performance and create a fun environment. You'll bring experience of advising teams, leading by example and promoting an environment and culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and innovation.
What you'll be doing
You will report into the Head of P&U Pricing and be responsible for the following:
- Defining professional standards and work methodology within chapter competence
- Create and develop competence within craft
- Develop & implement Agile ways of working, including promoting an Agile culture
- Work with Tribe Leads to deliver the “what” that is prioritised using the “how” of the Chapter. Work with the wider Commercial P&U leadership to align priorities and integrate working practices
- Develop the squad’s ability and willingness to identify and resolve squad level dependencies. Focus on identifying and addressing organisational level impediments to Agile
- Establish, embed and continually improve development standards, tools and frameworks across the chapter and provide technical thought leadership
- Participate in solving complex problems that require highest competency level as expert and organise consultations with necessary experts
- Help to facilitate the creation, refinement and tracking of OKRs
Specifically in relation to people leadership, you will:
- Provide leadership that creates an environment that enables others to step up rather than assume control or gather power
- Build the right capabilities and help match talent to the right roles and value-creation opportunities
- Collaborate with all Tribe and CoE leads to identify opportunities for innovation across Tribes that grow the DLG transformation
- Lead performance assessment of chapter members
- Act as a thought leader within area of expertise to guide, motivate and inspire chapter members
