**The Opportunity**

We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer to ensure the organisation, and all organisational activities are compliant with health and safety legislation, regulations, and good practice, through regular risk assessment, and the provision of support and training to colleagues.

This role is offered on a part time basis, 22.5 hours per week (3 days)

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring that the company is compliant with the relevant regulations.
- Conducting workplace inspections and coordinating external audits and reviews of the Health and Safety systems.
- Maintaining the Health and Safety systems including policies, risk assessments, codes of practice and the internal intranet.
- Leadership of the Health and Safety Committee and liaison with department safety representatives.
- Conducting investigations into accidents or near misses, preparing reports to the leadership team and board.
- Ensure Health and Safety awareness through effective communication to the company.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- NEBOSH or NCRQ Certificate (or equivalent) and relevant IOSH status.
- Proven experience in a similar role ideally within a scientific or laboratory setting.
- A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations.
- Self-starter with an analytical and methodical approach to work.
