The Specialist Perinatal Service is a multidisciplinary and well-established team providing a range of tailored approaches to meet the mental health needs of woman and their families in the perinatal period.
Our core purpose is to work with expectant mothers and mothers to address their mental health needs and mitigate any impact on the unborn baby and infant.
We aim to improve the improve the health outcomes for mothers with the provision of a timely, integrated, high quality, effective, multi-disciplinary service.
We are keen to develop services by offering an opportunity for permanent Band 4 Assistant Psychologist roles (3 posts in total).
This role is suitable for graduates with a good degree (minimum of 2:1) in Psychology (eligible for GBR from the BPS), seeking experience in preparation for a career in a relevant psychological profession e.g. Practitioner Psychology training.
There will be a requirement for travel across the Trust footprint (meetings, events pertinent to the role), and to work at different bases / clusters as and when the service requires.
The post-holder will join a multi-disciplinary team and will support the provision of psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
The post-holder will have a key role in supporting the collection and evaluation of outcome data, including completing, scoring, and analysing scores on clinical outcome measures and qualitative and quantitative service evaluation data.
There will also be opportunities to deliver training as well as support ongoing service development projects / audit projects.

You will have the opportunity to undertake initial assessments and direct one to one and group based therapeutic work with women experiencing a wide range of mental health problems.
You will also have opportunity for indirect working, offering training to both colleagues within the MDT and the wider maternity system.

The post offers an incredibly supportive team working environment and you will receive clinical supervision as well as regularly link in with established psychologists working within the perinatal service who meet regularly for ongoing CPD, discussion of clinical and professional issues and invaluable peer support.
There is also opportunity for professional development within a supportive department, with additional training being actively encouraged.
