This role is covering the duties of a HR Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to work in collaboration with the Trust’s Catering management team to ensure colleagues are recruited, onboarded and trained effectively and efficiently.

**SALARY**: £31,495 - £33,716 FTE / £20,391 - £21,829 Actual Salary

**LOCATION**: Harrow, North West London

**JOB TYPE**: Part-Time, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

**WORKING HOURS**: 30 hours per week over 4 days

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an HR Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead with meticulous attention to detail, experience in the use of Word, Excel and HR and Payroll systems, and a commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of students.

As the HR Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead you will work in collaboration with the school’s management team to ensure colleagues are recruited, onboarded and trained effectively and efficiently.

The HR Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will liaise and take advice from the wider HR Team and the School Improvement Lead for Inclusion to ensure compliance with regards to internal policies and procedures and safeguarding guidance as defined by the Department for Education.

DUTIES

Your role as HR Assistant and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will include:
HR

Help to ensure colleagues are recruited, onboarded and trained effectively and efficiently

Assist in ensuring roles are advertised in relevant locations / through relevant media

Work in collaboration with the Trust’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure compliance with regard to safeguarding

Work in collaboration with Trust DSL to ensure adjustments are made to any training requirements where necessary (e.g. translating written materials, ensuring face-to-face training is provided instead of online)

Ensure the SCR is kept up-to-date and is compliant

Monitor the placement of agency colleagues, volunteers and contractors, etc., and ensure the completion of the relevant documentation and that screening checks are carried out

Ensure all colleagues are paid correctly by undertaking all payroll administrative duties, including processing monthly payroll on the HR & Payroll system and related online portal

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Undertake any necessary training to be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Appropriately escalate any safeguarding concerns to the DSL

Ensuring all colleagues undergo safeguarding and child protection training at induction

Ensuring that colleagues read the relevant part of Keeping Children Safe in Education and that this is recorded correctly on the SCR

Identifying any barriers making it difficult for colleagues to complete the mandatory training and provide solutions to overcome these effectively

Ensuring there is a list of mandatory training, defined by role and timeline to complete for all colleagues

Ensuring refresher training is completed in a timely manner and before expiry dates where relevant

Liaising with appropriate school-based colleagues across the Trust to ensure colleagues receive relevant local training pertinent to the sites to which they are deployed

Conducting regular audits on the SCR to ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education and internal policies and procedures

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

Meticulous attention to detail

Experience in (outsourced) payroll administration

Able to work effectively on own initiative and within the limits of own professional boundaries and knowledge

Experienced in prioritising varied and conflicting work demands

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Competent in the use of ICT and in particular Excel and Word

Experience in the use of HR & Payroll systems

Discreet and respects confidentiality

Excellent organisation and time management skills

Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students

Desirable

Previous experience and understanding of generalist HR processes

A good understanding of the principles of Safer Recruitment and Equality and Diversity as relevant to the requirements of the post
