**Job Title**: Junior Testing & Development Engineer
**Department**: Tech Centre
**Reports to**: R&D Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to join and a growing Research & Development department in a business within a leading Engineering company in their industry.
**Job Purpose**:
To carry out performance testing, data analysis and reporting on new and existing products.
You will be expected to independently manage some development projects and make independent decisions in order to progress the work whilst also be expected to interact with all relevant technical and non-technical areas of the company in an open and cooperativemanner.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To provide a vital input on technical, development engineering, and practical issues within the development projects
- Carry out day-to-day Technical Centre activities including, but not limited to:
- Small Scale Testing
- Aggregate Batch Preparation
- deconstruction of tests and exhumation of specimens
- Measurement of Subgrade Properties
- Tensile Testing
- Creep testing using conventional, TTS and SIM methods
- Provide written technical reports and presentations of the above items of work, and in doing so will have been involved from idea, discussion, design, practical work, testing, analysis, and communication of results.
- Contribute to the generation, discussion, selection, and implementation of future development work.
- To have contact with external institutions and facilities to provide resources which are not available internally.
**Education/Skills/Abilities**
- A HND or higher in a civil/science/engineering discipline
- Ideally with an interest in geotechnics, geosynthetics, road or pavement design or similar areas.
- Knowledge of mechanical/product testing would be an advantage
- A genuine interest in engineering, coupled with a willingness to learn and take responsibility for their own development
