Our Institute of Health has more than doubled in size since it was created in 2018. With an income of £38m and over 3500 students across UG, PG, CPD and Apprenticeship provision, it is our biggest Institute. Key to our success in this competitive area has been our ability to respond to a rapidly changing environment to both influence and seize opportunities as they arise. Plans are also well underway for commencing the Cumbria School of Medicine a joint partnership with Imperial College London to open in 2025 which will sit alongside, but also impact on the growth of the Institute.

Reporting to the DVC (Health, Environment & Innovation) as a key member of the Vice Chancellor’s Executive Deans & Directors Group, our new **Dean of the Institute of Health** will have a clear remit to provide academic and managerial leadership to the Institute liaising as appropriate with external partners and internal departments to ensure and enhance the quality of all provision, progress student experience and outcomes, further grow the Centre for Research in Health and Society within the Institute, and to grow income streams in line with the Universities Strategy 2030.

You will be an experienced academic leader in a relevant area, with an understanding of the changing policy landscape particularly in relation to Nursing and AHPs, which may be underpinned from experience of working directly in an associated setting. This should include proven experience of developing and delivery of regional, national and international partnerships with health-related industry, business and commerce alongside experience of leading the achievement of high-quality learning and teaching, research/scholarship with a strong commitment to enhancing the student experience. The role is also envisaged as a Professorial appointment in keeping with our professorial criteria.
