**Job Purpose**:
Swindon Women's Aid, also operating as Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS), is the commissioned service for domestic abuse in Swindon. We are looking to expand our dedicated team.

The Community Services Outreach Worker will hold a caseload of standard and medium risk victims and survivors of domestic abuse who are residing within the community. You will provide 1:1 support, undertake DASH risk assessments, develop individual safety & support plans and assist them with signposting to other relevant support services.

You will have effective communication skills and experience of partnership working as the role will involve maintaining effective multi-agency relationships, attending meetings such as Team around the Family, Child in Need, Child Protection Conferences. You will be required to adhere to statutory protocols and procedures.

You will be a positive ambassador for SWA ensuring services are delivered to the highest of standards and SWA policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

**Main duties**:
**Managing service delivery and performance**

To work effectively with clients, other service providers, agencies and specialist services in order to achieve positive outcomes for them and their children.
- To hold a caseload and provide high quality telephone and face to face crisis intervention, information and support to victims referred to the service, in respect to risk management and safety planning such as housing, health, welfare rights, children's legislation and criminal and civil remedies.
- To ensure that clear, accurate, complete and concise case records are maintained, and individual safety & support plans and risk assessments are undertaken and regularly reviewed.
- To remain up to date on relevant national, local authority and SWA policies and procedures in order to protect community clients and children, bringing any concerns or issues immediately to the attention of managers.
- Prepare written reports for meetings.
- You will record and monitor service outcomes and keep managers informed of any issues and successes.
- To identify own training and development needs and participate in all training courses relevant to SWA’s commitment to providing high quality services.
- To work at all times with due regard to the policies and procedures of SWA, participating in their development and amendment where required.
- You will be expected to attend regular supervision and annual appraisals with your line manager
- You will be expected to take responsibility for ensuring that all relevant health and safety standards are adhered.
- You will need to actively promote the community IDVA service, establishing effective referral pathways with partner agencies.
- Assist with the 24 Hour Helpline.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 12 months case work experience, providing proactive and emotional support, undertaking risk assessments and completing support plans
- Ability to work under pressure and deal calmly and effectively with crisis
- Understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of working within multi-agency partnership structures in responding to domestic abuse victims
- Experience of working with confidentiality and adhering the professional boundaries
- Good level of numeracy, literacy and writing skills

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Knowledge of domestic abuse, the dynamics of power and control, and the impact of domestic abuse victims and survivors
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system in civil, criminal and family law.
- A good understanding of other relevant legislation and guidance which affects domestic abuse victims and survivors, such as criminal, civil & family law, welfare, housing and immigration.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Evidence of the ability to build and develop supportive relationships whilst maintaining professional boundaries
- Evidence the ability to make decisions and remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with an ability to manage conflict
- Ability to operate and maintain basic administrative and case management systems
- Demonstrate knowledge of the issues facing women and children experiencing domestic abuse
